Help Desk - Level 1

Unisys

During my time I shadowed the Network Engineer and System Admin. I gained hands-on experience in account setup, device configuration, and troubleshooting for a wide array of technologies, including F5 load balancers, Cisco C9200 and Catalyst 3650 switches, Global Fleet Equipment (GFE), and various end-client devices. I played an active role in developing and delivering training materials on Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and Certificate Authorities (CAs) for Level 1 (L1) and Level 2 (L2) agents, ensuring that they were equipped with the knowledge to effectively manage and secure communications within the network environment. Additionally, I conducted training sessions for agents on the procedures for securely caching user credentials to GFE devices via the USAF AFNET VPN, improving system security and user access protocols. I also contributed to the successful implementation and troubleshooting of CXone Softphone/NICE, assisting in resolving technical issues and optimizing the system to enhance communication workflows. This experience strengthened my understanding of network security, device management, and troubleshooting, while allowing me to play a key role in empowering team members through effective training and process development.

Interests

Apart from my professional life, I am passionate about outdoor activities like fishing, hiking, and traveling, particularly in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. The region’s diverse landscapes offer endless opportunities for exploration, whether it’s fishing in remote lakes, hiking through lush forests, or enjoying the tranquility of the coastline. Traveling allows me to recharge and find new inspiration, both in nature and in the diverse cultures I encounter along the way.

In my downtime, I have a strong passion for learning new technologies. I enjoy diving into the latest trends in tech and creating personal projects that challenge me to push my boundaries and expand my skill set. One of my favorite ways to learn is by building projects using open-source software. This hands-on approach allows me to not only learn by doing but also contribute to the open-source community. Some of the open-source tools I’ve worked with in my projects include Docker, LibreNMS, dhcpd, bind9, NSD, unbound, NGINX, Apache, Ghost, Firefly III, OpenVPN, and WordPress and many more. These projects range from network monitoring solutions and web servers to personal finance management tools, each of which helps me strengthen my technical abilities while developing practical, real-world applications. My passion for continuous learning and exploration keeps me up to date with the latest technologies and encourages me to keep experimenting and refining my skills.
